Uh, call me tacky but I've fallen in love with the Kardashians. My friend and I watched the wedding of Khloe and Lemar (probably just spelt both of those names wrong but because I'm lazy I'm not going to google the correct spelling) on foxtel about a month ago and couldn't stop crying. It's ridiculous. Most of the family is so obnoxious (ok, well maybe just Khloe), yet there's something so appealing about them...In general, the girls' style is a way too hoochie mamma for my liking, but I've searched through some pictures and I must admit they can look pretty damn fine (when they're not working their best push up bras (which seems to be 90% of the time) or posing semi nude for various publications)...

P.S If you live in Sydney, how bizarre is this weather?? I'm not proud to say it but I'm hating on summer right now...bring on winter weather and killer fashion. BYO platform boots, blazers, stockings and scarves.

Christmas is a hectic time of the year, period. For me the lead up is more about mental preparation rather than anything else. At our house come Christmas eve, the carols are blaring from the television, decorations are being hung in a desperate attempt to make the space appear more 'Christmassy', presents are being secretively wrapped in bedrooms and a copious amount of fresh produce is still sitting in the fridge waiting to be peeled, sliced, diced and roasted. We've taken the concept of 'last-minute preparation' and stretched it to it's limit. We all complain when mum's stayed up til 2am cleaning, but when i think about it, there would be something extremely wrong if we didn't do Christmas like this every year. Anyway, as per usual, the day ended up being a joyous occasion with a couple of bottles of moet popped open, the freshest prawns I've ever tasted, Nanna, Mum and I cooking away in the kitchen and my personal favourite, the 'after lunch siesta' (this year occuring during lunch for me haha). I would give you a full run down of the menu but it would end up taking up unnecessary space on the page...However, I will be taking requests to post if your heart so desires.

I will be starting a new blog come 2010 called 'Croon' which will be focused on my ever-growing passion for cooking, wining (I don't even think that's a word in this context) and fine dining...I'll probably end up throwing in some music aswell considering that's an equal first love. As for An Extraordinary Account, I'm going to turn this into a blog purely for outfit posts and a few eds here and there. It will be sporadic (story of my life) but I'm hoping that with a job and a bit of forward planning things will go the way I want them to!

OH MY GOSH.
I'M HOME.
I CAN'T GET OVER IT.

Well, It's only been twelve days, but I must say I felt somewhat empty without my daily dose of blogging (not to mention, fueling my addiction by reading all your lovely blogs daily). However, now that I'm back from the chaos of schoolies (which was actually amazing) and the sickeningly hot outskirts of Queensland, I'm ready to take on An Extraordinary Account with new passion...Finishing school has been extremely refreshing and has helped me declutter my mess of a brain, now the only problem is knowing what to do with myself. It's the all too common situation of realising you don't want to go to uni, you don't want to work in an office, you get bored in retail and don't want to end up a female carpenter/plumber/bricklayer (not that I'm knocking girls in trades...just between you and I, It's probably because I'm jealous that my weak, Illness-prone body wouldn't be able to handle the physical demands of such a job)...Oh, and whilst I'm on my rant of my life having no direction (despite only leaving school a month ago) did I mention having an overactive creative side to my brain? This really doesn't help earn a living...unless you're Karl Lagerfeld...or Rachel Zoe (etc etc. you get my drift)...Career suggestions will be seriously considered, because as much as being an apprentice chef appeals to me, I will eventually need some form of proper income to support expensive coffee/clothing/fine dining habits.

Anyway, I feel so slack as I've neglected my blog which I was updating (during exams...worst time to do it) every day and now I've been intensely busy relaxing and enjoying the elation of finishing school forever, I've had no time! I should schedule blogging time each day...New topic, I had my formal on monday night and have another one to go to on friday which is exciting because I got to buy two beautiful outfits guilt free! I'll show a couple of pictures next entry just to make up for lack of outfit posts lately. On yet another new topic, I'm making my favourite sweet in the whole world this weekend; French macaroons. I'll be sure (if they turn out, which they better considering almond meal is soo expensive) to post pictures of those too. As you may already know, nothing gets my heart racing like a good picture of Lara Stone, so when I saw the latest Vogue Paris in my local newsagent, I immediately had to shove my hands in my pockets. In all its $16 glory, I saw yet another beautiful cover of Lara, followed by several stunning editorials and page after page of non-readable (considering my french is very very limited) fashion gold. My logic and I battled it out for a while and in the end my sensible side (screw you) took over as I tore myself away from the racks of glossy goodness. Phew, now I can afford my week's coffees with a little less guilt than usual. Actually, that's a lie, I don't feel guilty spending my money on good food/coffee because, second to a good mag, nothing excites me more than fine cuisine. In light of that last statement, I thought I would just let you in on my plans for next year and beyond seeing as I have my final school exam (ever) on Friday afternoon (followed by a week of parties, a few days break and then another week of pure joy spent on the beach in sunny Byron Bay).

Yes, that's correct (just in case you were clever enough to guess), I am following my heart (and my stomach) and becoming an apprentice chef. I'm so ridiculously excited to be learning about the wonderful nature of cooking, accompanied by hosting countless dinner parties on what will be a minimum wage, and eventually/hopefully moving towards having a restaurant or cafe of my own...I'll continue blogging about fashion, probably with a little more food thrown in here and there (what could be more appropriate in the world of sparkling water, cigarettes and celery sticks?) and see where I end up. Who knows, I may even start signing off by saying something gay like bon apetit! Yes...I think I shall.

Dita Von Teese is such a stunning lady...So elegant, feminine, graceful, sexy etc. etc. I think she's underrated in terms of her style (I mean honestly for one minute lets just forget that she is the goddess of the burlesque/striptease world)...I love that she never leaves the house without a slick of lipstick. She also makes me feel alot better about being ghostly white...in fact, I think it's rather attractive hmmm maybe I'll rethink my ongoing guilt about not having a tan in summer.

This 22 year old Sydney beauty Alexandra Agoston has only just crossed my radar, I'm not sure why I'm so late on the uptake considering that she debuted at NYFW in 05 and I have a tendency to model stalk...She's a stunning creature (and a local, what a plus!), and after seeing her interviewed backstage on FTV yesterday I decided to do some googling...She's down to earth, got agents in all the major cities, legs for days and one of those stunning, natural Eurasian faces. What's not to like? She's hit the runway for Dior, Lacroix, Galliano, Marchesa, Gaultier, Margiela, Commes etc etc. and I'm desperately hoping she gets some big campaigns...

Anyway, I'm so happy that the sun has decided to shine almost all week and the weather is supposedly going to hit the 35deg.c. today...beach time! Everyone has told me all my high school life how stressful and scary the HSC is but really, if they had just calmed down and enjoyed their days off, they would realise that it's acutely boring. Like I'm finding myself rather unoccupied which is very very nice...Formal is in 13 days! I'm tossing up whether to be tanned or just keep it natural (let's take into consideration that I'm rather pasty and the sun is not working it's magic on my white-ish skin). Thoughts?

Thought it was about time I actually took a moment to breathe and write a decent post. Promise will get back to doing so ASAP.

Well I'm just heading out the door to go to the opera tonight (at the Sydney Opera house...where else!) which should be fantastic (so I've heard) and thought I'd take some snaps of what I've got on...My crochet dress/top/I just wear it as anything is making a repeat appearance over a fitted black denim dress (LEE), teamed with assorted bangles (no surprises there) and Sportsgirl black ankle boots. Funnily enough I'm fortunate to be attending a different opera tomorrow night also, so I'll post more pics when I get around to choosing an outfit!

After watching countless MODTV videos and seeing all the beautiful makeup looks from seasons past, I decided to do something I've wanted for a long long time and buy myself some white eyeliner...I must say, I'm very pleased with the one I bought which is NARS. It just glides on and looks great in the inner corners of the eye if you balance it with a bit of black on the outer, teamed with a good mascara. I'm meeting a friend for lunch today as I have a ten day break from exams (lucky me I know) then meeting a girlfriend to hit up the gym...formal is in two and a half weeks!

Looking casual in: beige knit (my mums from twenty years ago), country road lilac singlet which you can't see, fleur wood denim skirt, sportsgirl gypsy scarf, gold 'E' necklace from ebay and target fringed sandals...no idea where the bangles are from.

I had a bit of a baking sesh this afternoon and this sumptuous cake is the result of about an hour and a half spent in the kitchen (when I should've been studying!). When we have guests, no matter how spontaneous, I always whip out my mixer and get baking because it's a fantastic release of stress for me (not to mention I love eating the after product!)...And bonus is, if you're gluten intolerant (like my mum, myself and one of my sisters) you can still eat it! I use great gluten-free flours and they turn out just as if I were using the ordinary ones.

Excuse the wash over the photos, but the lighting was so random that nothing else was fixing it, so you can't quite see the nice blue colour of the jeans which is a teensy bit of a shame...Oh well, I'll be sure to dress them up and post properly soon! And now that I scroll up I just realised (I'm sure you want to know this) how saggy my bum looks because they're so baggy hahah

Exam preparation has turned me into somewhat of a hobit...My style has turned to plain, boyish basics, with at least one textbook or my laptop in tow every where I go, plus messy hair and an assortment of bangles (I like the sound of them jingling together)...My sister would probably kill me if she were home to stop me from leaving the house (but she isn't so ha ha)...That said, I have been EXTREMELY comfortable, and well, it is the HSC after all (for all you non-Australians, the HSC=death (or possibly finals I think you guys call them in the US of A)) Anyway, three days and counting til my first exam; business studies, followed by two x three hour english papers, music, italian and textiles. I think once the first week of business and english torture is over, everything will be fine...I think, I hope. Well anyway, yes it's three months away, but I can't help but get excited about my 18th birthday and all the good times I'll (most likely) be having out in the real world, adorned in voguish outfits and killer heels...Ahh to dream is a lovely feeling right now.

Better get back to my essays! See you on the other side of my english exams lovelies!

This is the final straw in proving how stylistically confused I am...I have these excruciatingly conflicting parts of my brain that send me mixed signals all the time, consequently resulting in an erratic (it's gone beyond the ability to be called eclectic), mish-mash of goodness knows what. I'm super comfortable in (and have a new found love for) boyfriend style jeans and ballet flats, yet I have this incredible desire to purchase super high heels, red lipstick and classic, feminine dresses. Please explain?

Oh I know, I know, I feel like I've exposed my secret now. I am so unworthy to be blogging about other people and their style when I haven't even figured myself out yet! Anyway, to put a positive spin on things, I suppose I can just think of myself as a work in progress; a blank canvas; considering I'm only just getting used to not being in a school uniform five days a week (which I am very very happy about mind you)(and I'll have outfits to post hoorah)!

So, bear with me whilst I go on a bit of a journey of self-discovery, and drag anyone who looks at my blog with me! Oh, and don't fret, this type of thing doesn't require a trip to the psychologist...it's just a style crisis.

My life will (almost) be complete when I own a pair of Tristan Blair's.

It's quite rare to find such a talented shoe designer that's local (local being Sydney) because everything is imported these days (although I'm certainly not complaining)...

Every time I come across a pair (which is quite often because a small selection are stocked right next door to my favourite cafe) I want to break down crying because of my broke-ness (I use the term 'broke' very loosely) and consequently, my inability to purchase them.

Couldn't resist going on a traipse through google images based around the word 'paris', because I must admit I'm feeling even more dreamy than usual today...The thought of romance, french macaroons and blossoming gardens is so appealing right now I can't even begin to describe it. If I had to justify my overactive imagination at the moment, I would probably contribute it to my lack of studying. One side of my brain has decided to shut down, so now my creative (yet slightly unproductive) sector is taking the reins...great. I may also be getting slowly more and more unhappy with myself at my current (and persisting) lack of boyfriend (or boyfriend material for that matter)...

Where are all the good ones hiding!? Italy? Paris? Five decades ago perhaps? I have no idea, so if you do, please fill me in.

But for now, I'll just continue writing my overdue essays about feminism, truth/illusion and eastern vs western philosophy...(and might I say, in the context of insightful and casual discussion these happen to be very interesting topics (aside from the latest ss10 collections of course), but in a situation where you are scrutinised for your writing style, ability to technically analyse and structure a couple of thousand words, they're not so appealing)

Anyway, I figured I haven't written anything substantial on my dear little blog for a while, so I'm terribly sorry for boring you (or if I've been mildly (and unintentionally) amusing; thankyou.

Whenever I find an ed that tickles my fancy, I feel it's my duty to post it. Not only because someone somewhere on the other side of the world has taken the time to share it, therefore passing on the obligation for me to do the same, but also because I find it very inspiring when I discover new photographers (if they shoot my favourite models it's a major plus) and their work.

Early last year I saw this divine turquoise knit in Russh, and taking note of the brand name (Skin and Threads) I set off searching for stockists. Now that I've finally found one (hallelujah it's local!) I am going to be stopping by frequently to see and feel the cotton-y goodness of the label's luxurious, yet modest wardrobe staples...My favourite being the pale blue and white striped oversized tee (above). Oh, and did I mention reasonably priced too! This brand is definitely on my hit list for when I'm earning a proper wage (amidst many other "essentials")...

P.s. Hoorah the weather is heating up! Cue lazy days spent at Oak pak, Harry and Marios and walks along the esplanade...textbooks/study notes optional

I found the solution to my short stint of blogging withdrawals. Posting at school! Hurrah for not doing work in class (not like we do any anyway)...Well, enough about that. I know it's super cringey reading the fashion blog of a 13 year old, but despite the annoying quality of her pics, Tavi's blog Style Rookie is actually very amusing and highly endearing...I was surprised to find not only accurate pop culture/historical references, but runway pics from the sideline, cool Polaroids and in general a collection of amusing musings (excuse the assonance/alliteration).

Feel free to offer up reading suggestions.
Oh, and what I really don't get is HOW THE HECK DOES SHE KNOWS THE THINGS SHE DOES!!! Someone please inform me if I'm out of the loop here.

my nightmare exactly...except we have to consider the fact that paris hilton would make even a chanel tweed look tacky, so i suppose she doesn't count right?

I bought black, shiny leggings. I'm laughably nervous about debuting them next week at my friend's 18th because they're rather out of my fashion comfort zone. I'm typically quite a "safe" dresser; (dresses, blazers, jeans, long tops, ballet flats and heels when I'm out) but I decided to throw caution to the wind and just buy them. They were significantly reduced in price so how could I say no? I'll take lots of pics when I'm getting ready and at the party so you can rightfully tell me whether the risk paid off or not! The funny thing, to anyone else it's probably not that out there, but in comparison to what my friends are wearing (the birthday girl will be adorned in pink with...ruffles. lord help us all) I look like the experimental goth of the group (the outfit's all black) hahaha

My textiles major work is due on monday! I'm so nervous about getting it finished, especially the folio part because there's so many sections to do, but hopefully I'll finish before the weekend!

Just because I feel the need to celebrate beautiful Australian girls once more...Jessica Hart, Sarah Stephens, Alyssa Sutherland in Vogue's 50th anniversary issue, which I purchased yesterday. Even though generally speaking, I'm not a fan of Alyssa, I L.O.V.E this shot of her; the greyscale editing, whimsical hair and beautiful lingerie really softens her look and gives a gorgeously feminine feel to the photo...Same goes for Sarah Stephens, I often find she looks the same in all her photos, but I really like this picture of her. Jess Hart, well I just love her. Love the fact that the gap between her front teeth has become signature, and she hasn't gotten it filled in (like many other models have i'm sure), and also she's one of the very few 'feline' looks I can handle. Sorry, but Lara Bingle and her cat eyes annoy the crap out of me...

Anyway, thanks to one of my favourite bloggers 'Zanita', I discovered a fabulous blog called 'LoveMore' today. And what better way to pay tribute to someone than to copy them right? So, the above images are courtesy of her blog which is filled with almost too much inspiration. Lovely.

how much I adore Iekeliene Stange until I see a picture of her...(Gosh it's so hard to find any hq/not ridiculously tiny pictures of her via google) Although I would never ever be game enough to wear her gorgeously quirky outfits, I think she pulls them off so well...and those razor sharp cheek bones are to die for might I add.

Well I have my last exam tomorrow; Italian! It's going to be hard to concentrate for 3 hours because I'm sick (yet again) and my sinus hurts but I must say the relief is going to be intense when it's over...Even though my week off will be spent doing finishing touches on my textiles major and the folio which is utter torture.

I'm so happy, my major work for textiles is almost over! I had the exhibition last night where it was shown alongside other student projects and I'm actually still amazed that I managed to get it together! After months of preparation and ALOT of last minute work (2 hours of sleep in the last three nights eek) it was extremely rewarding to see it on the mannequin :D My sister took some pictures, so I'll post them tomorrow when I get a chance...

Cue grande no fat starbucks, perfectly messed bed hair (that happens to mysteriously change colour as often as the sky), leg baring tshirts as dresses, platform heels, converse sneakers, oversized designer bags, oversized designer sunnies, and what do you get? Paparazzi heaven.

Yeah yeah, I know it's a bit passe to look to the Olsen twins for style these days, but honestly. Have you ever seen to individuals work the hell out of black like they do? Or get away with wearing the most ridiculously large cardigans with stockings in the middle of summer and still look fabulous? If you have; let me know...these angel faced twins could get away with fashion murder (which I'm sure they have at one point or another) and still have my respect.

I'm back at school again today! (blogging in my free period of course) and it's already hell...in light of my stress and tendency to avoid school work, expect posts galore (the exact opposite of what it should be)

I've always been drawn to pictures found in the wonderful editorials of Vogue India. I had the privilege of visiting Mumbai for a few days, a couple of years ago and I just adored it. Yes, it's a bit of a shock to your system at first, taking in the contrast of extreme poverty with ridiculous wealth, but there is something so lively and dynamic about the culture that appeals to me.

The rich colours, bustling markets and the way the human and natural environment intertwine is fascinating. On one side of you, there may be the grand 'taj' hotel, and on the other, you can look down and see hundreds of women and men doing their washing in a huge communal space called dhobi ghat (pictured below...I swear, these people are washing in what we would consider filth, and there white's are whiter and colour's brighter than I've ever seen here.)

The harshness of the disparity intrigues me, yet slightly disturbs me, wondering how people could be so ignorant of one another...I guess it happens all over the world in different ways, but it's hard to deny it when its thrown at you like that. Anyway, I loved India and hope I can go back in the next few years (hey, maybe I'll make it big in bollywood!). It's a really refreshing experience and certainly makes me grateful for the free and privileged life I lead back here at home.

I said yesterday I would try to be a little more inspiring, so I hope I've at least given you some new pictures to add to your collections! If not, who knows? Maybe tomorrow will be my (or your) lucky day!

I baked me some cupcakes...They taste alot better than they look, considering I couldn't care less if my icing looks less than perfect. On that note, to me they look rather fabulous. Whipped passionfruit, lemon & coconut icing on a feather weight, dusty pink coloured, vanilla cake...I should come up with a name so I don't have to write all that again hehe not too good on the waist line, but lucky I have an appointment with my plasma tv and 'tae bo fat blasting workout' dvd tonight...after dinner at nanna's. Lord help me what have I got myself into???!

Just thought you might like to see my adorable little doggy Bella...she was feeling a little bit shy, groggy and probably embarassed about her bed hair in her mini webcam photoshoot (as she likes to sleep all day every day)(I probably would too if I were a dog hahaha)...It's funny because I had to lift her up in front of the camera because she was 'too tired' to show herself off today. As soon as I put her back down next to me on my bed, she crashed out straight away!

How embarassing, I probably sound like one of those people that treat their pets like a human right now...(which I kind of do now that I think about it...oh, and guess how much her hair cuts cost? 65 WHOLE FREAKING DOLLARS! For hair that's about 2 inches long...my gosh, what is this world coming to?)

Anywayyy, I spent the morning getting a facial, ended up walking out with $300 worth of skin products (good grief! I'll have to work for quite a few hours to get that back...), enjoyed a coffee and the reading of a huge bridal magazine, and now back at home putting together my textile major work portfolio!
